The visitors took the lead in the opening minutes through Smith. It only took 20 minutes for Alfreton to double their lead, this time through Jake Day. Both goals came from set pieces which will be a huge disappointment for the Ravens manager. Two moments in which his side lacked concentration put his side two down as Billy Heath’s side took full advantage.
However, there were signs that will impress Adam Stevens as his side looked the better of the two. Their dominance paid off just after the hour mark when Berridge put Coalville back in it just two minutes after Billy Kee missed a penalty for the home side. This coupled with a penalty shout denied when they were just 1-0 down gives a lot for Stevens to be proud of despite the defeat.
The home fans stuck by their side throughout the match but left disappointed.
